How an order works
You upload a photo and receive three watermarked preview portraits at no cost and with no obligation. Choosing one and paying forms the contract between us. Until you pay, nothing is owed by either side.
Prices are in US dollars and include our costs of production and US shipping. Where a time-limited discount is shown, the price you see at checkout is the price charged.
What we make
Your portrait is generated by an AI model trained on Lily’s own commissioned paintings. It is produced automatically from the photo you supply and delivered without a person editing it first — that is what makes it fast and inexpensive. It is not a hand-painted original, and we don’t describe it as one anywhere on this site. Hand-painted commissions are a separate service, enquire here. They are priced individually, usually $500 to $1,500, with a waiting list of roughly two years.
Prints are produced on archival, acid-free paper. Color on a printed piece can differ slightly from a screen, which is normal for print and not a fault.
The photo you upload
By uploading a photo you confirm you have the right to use it. We use it only to produce your portrait, and we don’t publish it or use it in advertising without asking you first.
Files for orders that are never completed are deleted after 14 days.
Who owns the artwork
You get a personal, perpetual right to use your portrait: print it, hang it, share it, use it as a wallpaper, give it away. Rights in the artwork itself stay with Watercolor by Lily, which means it isn’t yours to resell or license commercially. If you want commercial rights, email us and we’ll agree them separately.
The model that produces these portraits was trained on Lily’s own work and is not available for other people’s use.
Delivery and returns
Covered in full on the Delivery & Returns page, which forms part of these terms. In short: free US shipping, 4–10 days for physical items, digital files delivered immediately, and 30 days to change your mind for a full refund.
Cancelling
Before a print is produced, you can cancel for a full refund by replying to your confirmation email. After it ships, the 30-day guarantee applies instead.
If something goes wrong
Our responsibility is limited to what you paid for the order. We can’t be responsible for indirect losses — a gift arriving late for an occasion, for example — though we’ll always try to help if you tell us the deadline in advance.
Nothing here limits rights you have under US consumer law that can’t be limited by agreement.
Changes
We may update these terms. The version that applies to your order is the one published when you placed it.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina.
