I never set out to become a pet portrait artist. I was a watercolor painter who spent weekends at farmers markets, selling landscapes and florals to passersby. But everything changed the day I painted my childhood dog, Copper, from memory.
Copper had passed away six months earlier, and I found myself unable to look at photos without feeling overwhelmed. So I painted him instead—not from a photograph, but from the feeling of him. The way his ears flopped when he ran. The exact amber of his eyes in afternoon sunlight. The painting became something more than an image; it became a presence, a comfort, a way to hold onto love without clinging to loss.
When my neighbor saw the painting, she wept. Then she asked, “Could you do this for my Luna?”
That question became a calling. I realized I wasn’t just painting pets—I was painting love stories. Each portrait became a declaration that this bond mattered, that this soul deserved to be remembered in the same way families have honored their beloveds throughout history. I was giving people permission to grieve, to celebrate, to say out loud: “My pet is family.”
Today, every portrait I create is painted by my own hand, in my sun-filled studio, with the same intention I brought to that first painting of Copper. I work slowly, deliberately, believing that something made to honor a life should never feel rushed or mass-produced.

In my sun-filled studio, I hand-sketch your custom portrait with careful attention to every detail. Then I scan this sketch and color it in watercolor style digitally on my iPad. This process usually takes 1–2 days, because art made to honor a life should never be rushed.
